Garden design picEvery garden is unique and plays an important role in our everyday lives.

Whatever the existing condition, size or layout of your garden Paper Landscapes can provide you with a professional, innovative and creative design. We can tailor it to suit your requirements to create a bespoke open space experience.

The design process starts with an initial consultation, which unfolds into the full design process.

Together we will work through the following steps:

Initial consultation

The initial consultation takes place within your garden, involving discussions about your ideas and requirements with evaluations of your existing garden with the designer.

This will take approximately 1-2 hours. There is a small fee for the initial site visit which will be deducted from the design fees if you decide to engage our services.

The first visit will be to:-

1. Discuss the clients needs
2. Carry out a risk assessment
3. Look at existing hard landscaping
4. Discuss utilities required
5. Discuss soft landscaping
6. Discuss the clients Budget

Following the meeting you will be sent a summary report of our discussion.

Included with this will be an initial analysis of the site and broad recommendations on the direction the design should take.

With the report will be a quote for the design work.

Survey of current set-up

If you agree to the quotation that is provided from the first consultation, a full site survey will take place.

It will consist of a comprehensive survey and analysis including evaluating existing physical features both hard and soft, which may affect the design. Accurate dimensions are taken to determine size and configurations.

For complex sites further professional expertise may be required and would be discussed with the client before commissioning.

Design proposals

Working to an agreed design brief and using all the information from the site survey we draw up a design proposal. It will incorporate all the desired key elements from discussions.

It will embed the appropriate professional design and theoretical practices for the project. This will outline a fusion of requirements and design ideas, accompanied by sketch ideas and visual reference material.

This will be used as a starting point for further development and discussion, making appropriate changes as necessary to come up with the agreed final details. These are approved by the client before the final design is execute.

Master plans

Depending on the size, scope and complexity of work a master plan may need to be drawn up to show existing elements and site features with  proposed changes. This stage of the design process would be discussed and advised within the initial stages.

Sketch plans

To create an aesthetically harmonious design-Sketch Plans are produced to visually communicate the proposed spatial layout, before spending time on design details that may change. Clients are able to feel and move around the design, appropriate changes can be made before committing to final details for the design.
